DOLL FUNERAL FAQ’S
♡ NEED TO CONTACT DOLL FUNERAL? ♡
THERE’S A FORM AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE OR EMAIL taeden@gloomth.com
WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?
We’re open 6 days a week! Tuesday 1-6pm, Wednesday 2-7pm, Thursday 1-6pm, Friday 1-6pm, Saturday 1-7pm, Sunday 1-6pm! Any changes to our hours will be displayed on google and the pinned post on our instagram. For our Saturday events we often close at 6pm, for example.
HELP! I CAN’T FIND YOUR STORE!
Finding the shop in the mall is part of the experience! We don’t want just any riffraff coming in here and asking us if it’s “for Halloween” lol. There are photo guides to finding us here as well as a tiktok video version here! Good luck!!!
CAN I SELL MY CLOTHES THROUGH DOLL FUNERAL?
Yes! We only do consignment right now, so you’re paid when your item sells! Message us on instagram or email taeden@gloomth.com for info and to make an appointment. We (only) do consignment by appointment, please don’t just show up with clothes as we do try and stagger intake to keep the shop populated and fresh. We also offer remote consignment to our Canadian friends country-wide, if you don’t live in the GTA we can coordinate having your items mailed to us (we’ll cover up to $20 for shipping), email or message us for info on that service.
WOULD YOU CONSIDER SELLING MY ART OR HANDMADE GOODS?
We are always looking for new creative accessories, artwork, and items for our shop! Send us an instagram message or email us at taeden@gloomth.com. We have consignment for artists and makers available! Our priority is to showcase Canadian designers and artists, but if you’re elsewhere in the world we’d love to see your work and if you’d be okay with consignment we would love to welcome it (providing it fits with our audience/vibe).
WHEN IS YOUR NEXT EVENT/WORKSHOP?
Check out our events listings here!
YOU HAVE TWO STORES NOW?!
Yes! We also run a shop across the hall directly across from our original shop, it’s where our events and workshops take place! It operates the same hours as our main shop.
WHAT’S YOUR RETURN OR REFUND POLICY?
None. We do not do exchanges, refunds, or returns of any kind. All sales are final in our IRL store.
I ENCOUNTERED AN ISSUE WITH SOMETHING I PURCHASED IN YOUR SHOP.
Oh no! If it’s a handmade item your best bet is to reach out to the person who made it, if you message us on instagram or email us we can get you in touch with the creator. If you had an issue with a Gloomth item email or message us, we can often help!
DO YOU HAVE GIFT CERTIFICATES FOR THE IRL STORE?
Yes! Email us for info (taeden@gloomth.com)!
HOW MUCH IS YOUR STORE RENT?
If you need consultation services on commercial leases there is a $10,000 up front retaining fee plus hourly billing of $500 after that (jokes jokes, but not really because we get this super rude question pretty frequently lol). Otherwise we do not talk numbers and asking random store people this is bonkers……lol.
CAN I DO A PHOTOSHOOT INSIDE THE STORE?
Not during our open hours ideally. We allow photography to an extent but it’s often too busy or too disruptive to other customers to have entire shoots happening while we are open. No, you may not show up to our events and photograph guests (especially if you’re a cis dude trying to creep on young women). If you’d like to rent the space after hours for photos we may be able to accommodate it depending on the end use. Please contact us for info!
WHY ARE SO MANY CROSSES AND RELIGIOUS DECORATIONS?
The shop aesthetic is based on designer Taeden’s apartment in many ways. She sees the environment as an art installation in which you can shop. Exploring themes of nostalgia and girlhood through a queer or slightly unsettling lens. The use of Christian motifs is tied to Taeden’s upbringing in a church-attending household (and becoming an adult who no longer identifies with that community personally). You can find elements of Tae’s entire life in the shops, from a musical toy that hung in her crib to university art school projects and many other elements. She has done her best to be respectful of the themed items in the space, they are there as a reflection of her personal experiences and not “just for vibes”. If the presence of these motifs bothers you maybe try Old Navy or somewhere with a corporate mandate to be as pleasing and neutral as possible.
I DISLIKED THE STAFF INTERACTION I HAD WHILE VISITING YOUR SHOP.
We are so sorry to hear that! We want everyone to feel welcome and inspired when visiting our shop. At this time none of our staff are robots, as a result their moods can often be impacted by hunger/stress/external factors (just like yours). We do our best to provide a welcoming and friendly experience but sometimes personalities just don’t mesh well or bad days happen. There is no corporate policy here where our staff are required to behave x way, we do encourage them to be friendly and warm but since they aren’t robots we can’t force it lol. We sincerely apologize if the shop is busy and we don’t have time to talk to you about something for 20 minutes or you feel slightly ignored etc. We promise it’s not personal! (If you’re a dick to our staff you’re welcome to shop anywhere else though).
